Red Desert Mama, you do things to my hippie heart. ❤️ The Mojave feels so still and ancient, and that’s really all it takes to have this yogini falling in love. Thank you, Sacred Earth, for panoramic mountain views and a desert wind that carries the mystical whispers of many, many lifetimes. ⛰ || Photo cred to my hunty + hiking buddy, @logan_alkire
A striking geologic formation in the Coachella valley that had some nice shadows and scrub color. 16x20 oil... right at the upper end for an alla prima painting. #pleinair #oilpainting #landscapepainting #coachella #desert #mojavedesert #wattsatelier #artinstructor #robertwatts3637 #californiadesert

Two tickets for the FunkyTown Express, Please!! ❣️ (Zoom in!) #tbt to one of the greatest trips of my life 6+ yrs ago when I got to spend 10 days in the wild wild West with my remarkably brilliant + beautiful best friend/collaborator (and muse) @bekah_carey We packed two suitcases full of vintage/thrifted costume pieces that had been collecting in our closets begging to be released into the wild, and did our best to bang out two to three shoots a day. Up at 3:30/4 am, on location by 4:45, shivering uncontrollably through the windy, freezing temps of the desert before sunrise, setting up and shooting like maniacs through the surreal light that Mother Sun was gifting us, and packed in the car by 9:30 am before the scorching temps took us down. Exhausted and exhilarated, we’d trek to what felt like the outer reaches, turning down roads that eventually turned to dust and then suddenly deep sand and then not much at all except spectacular, sacred beauty in search of our next location for our evening shoot, or if the skyscape was good, we’d jump right in place, shoot fluidly and sweatily as we were in pure flow state and head back to our magical Airbnb (El Corazon del Desierto) for a much needed nap before our evening shoot. Bee was really inspired by the train track sculpture at the mesmerizing Noah Purifoy Desert Museum and we did our best with what we had to fill the train with eager passengers- entertainers, newlyweds and those looking for a new start in a distant land. #choochoo
