Ross Errilly Friary - Headford, Co Galway. The Ross Errilly Friary (Irish: Mainistir Ros Oirialaigh, often anglicised in 18th & 19th century sources as Rosserelly) is a medieval Franciscan friary located about a mile to the northwest of Headford, County Galway, Ireland. It is a National Monument of Ireland and among the best-preserved medieval monastic sites in the country. Though usually referred to by locals as "Ross Abbey," this is not technically correct as the community never had an abbot.

Have you ever heard of Devenish Island? I only had briefly. Arriving here earlier this week, I was truly blown away. Devenish Island is in Lough Erne in the lakelands in Ireland's northwest. To get there, I was picked up by water taxi from @LoughErneResort - after driving through amazing scenery in a golf buggy, to a remote jetty on a peninsula! Monks lived on the island in the sixth - yes, the sixth - century, so there's a monastic site, round tower, cool ruins and the rest of the island is cows grazing. You can only get here by boat.
