Today is so bittersweet! It is our last day in our RV!In 2016 (first 2 pics above), Greg and I made a spur of the moment decision to sell everything and move into an RV to travel.A decision that I will never regret! Now, we are moving to Italy and we have to park our RV in storage! I am so thankful for these past couple of years and I am excited for what is to come! On to our next adventure!!✈️ *But first, we are staying with my in-laws who are graciously allowing us to do so. The girls absolutely adore their Grandma Nan and Pappy, so I’m happy they will get some special time together. ❤️❤️

Did you guys know I’ll be leaving for Italy in a few months?! I’ll be living there for 3 months hopefully traveling around and experiencing the incredible beauty across that big ol’ pond .. Before I met Gio, I always wanted to live in Europe. It was France I was seeing myself getting acquainted with ( I even have a French language study book) but as soon as we started talking about Italy, I knew it would be a part of my life, at least for a little bit. .. Gio is going back home in July/August to start playing pro basketball, we have no idea where we’ll live nor the exact date we’ll be flying out on. All I know is I really need to study Italian! .. When I say anyone can visit me, I really mean it lol I want to make memories with my people there too so save some money, hop on a plane and stay with me and adventure ❤️ .. Two years ago today, I sat on the swings outside a friend’s house on a freezing winter’s morning. I’d just landed in Italy and he asked me how long I planned to stay. ‘I don’t really know,’ I said. ‘Per sempre!’, he responded. Sometimes, when I think about moving to Italy, I think I lost out on a great opportunity to write honestly about uprooting my life to chase my dreams. I wonder why I didn’t photograph more, write more, share more. In the end though, I realise I didn’t share because this was an experience I had to have for me. Because I wasn’t doing so good back in Perth. Every day was a struggle - an uphill battle against my health, against expectations, against anxiety, against my own feelings of being lost and trapped. It was so nice to escape those streets and arrive here. A semi-fresh start in a city that I love. I don’t know if I can honestly say that moving to Italy has been the biggest challenge of my life, but it’s one of the most important. And two years since I hit the reset button, I’m ready to share again. I’ve found peace in who I am. I’ve had enough space from the outside world. For the first time in years, I feel confident and proud. I feel like I’m ready to keep fighting, but more importantly, I’m ready to let people in. Because if there is anything that these last two years have taught me, it’s that going it alone is overrated. I have learned that asking for help isn’t weakness, that it’s genuinely and truly okay to not always be okay, and I’ve rediscovered one of the traits I missed so much in myself, an ability to revel in the joy. To revel in the tiny little moments that light up my world - the light falling through the trees, the ever changing view on a steep descent to the ocean, the smile of the boy I love as he leaves for work in the morning (who I happened to meet about 10 minutes after sitting on that swing). After years of feeling lost, and on the second anniversary since I moved to Italy, I’ve finally realised that I was in here all along, doing the work that I wanted to do all along, and chasing the dreams I still hold close to my heart. Are you guys moving to Italy anytime soon? ⠀ This is something I get asked quite often. ⠀ I wish I could say oh yes, soon, but it’s unfortunately not so simple. ⠀ It would be great to be close to our Italian family, and have big enough house to host my Finnish family and friends. This would also save my nerves quite a lot as traveling between places is getting quite tiring. Finland is not really an option, I would love to live in my hometown Kuopio, not in Helsinki, and the job situation and is not promising in there. Missing our families a lot. ⠀ So, Italy it would be if any, given that weather is quite nice and Tuscany has so much to offer, besides the family factor. It’s different from Germany, for sure, but after 12 years abroad in the UK, Germany and East Asia, I’m sure I would adapt ☺️ ⠀ What is holding us back is the current economical climate. ⠀ It’s not a secret that Germany and other countries are financially and in terms of career prospects often better than Italy right now, especially to highly educated people. ⠀ And this is one reason why I’ve been building my own biz over the years. We could technically go now, if wanted, but the gap between Germany and Italy would be so significant for my husband that we are not ready to do it yet. Actually, I’m more keen than he is. ⠀ It’s however easier to work with a goal. Every step takes you closer to your goal and is hugely motivating. And the fact that one day we could go and have a house in the hills near Florence (), keeps me going. I’ve already decided the area ⠀ There will be changes in September, though.
