Today’s post is a throwback from July 2017. When you visit Alaska, there are two ways you can reach the Arctic Ocean. You can either go to Prudhoe Bay, which I did in my motorcycle after taking special permission riding all the way along the Alaska oil pipeline upto Deadhorse from Anchorage. The other way is to fly to Barrow, which is not accessible by road from mainland Alaska. Barrow is the northern most city of the US. It is the 11th northern most human settlement in the world. Ireached Barrow by air. The sun does not set in this city for 65 days in the summers. When I landed in this city,, it was like an abandoned devil’s place. There were not many humans in the road. After 30 minutes I met the first guy who had a taxi ( I was probably the only customer of the day). He drove me 10 mins north to point barrow which is the northern mosttip of USA.. I got to touch the frozen Arctic Ocean , 30 feet whale bones, and a rare sight of a polar bear. There are no roads in barrow as the roads may freeze due to the tundra. So there is only gravel everywhere.. winter temperatures reach as low as -40 C..Visiting this hardly inhabited place was indeed a lifetime experience.. #Barrow #Alaska #Arctic #ArcticOcean #nomadlife #Travel #Traveler #Backpacker #Backpacking #WanderLust #Adventure #Glacier #PointBarrow #Nature #msdphotography #naturephotography #backpacker #NorthPole #USA #california
