Oh you guys, I didn't make time for nail art so here's some free hand french over the years. I've been working on mastering my french manicures since I moved to Istanbul in 2008. In June 2017, my little nail journey began. I left a 10 year career in learning disability and mental health. It was time for a change for my own mental health’s sake (we’ll not go into that today). So I perused the little dream I always had ‘to do nails’. Well fuck me, i fell head over heels, hook line and sinker in love. Building the nails from nothing, using them as a blank canvas, being part of helping someone feel better about themselves in a different way than i used to, finally being able to express myself in my own way and teaching other techs/aspiring techs daily is what im here for. Im constantly learning, constantly accessing as much knowledge and facts about this industry as i can, constantly pushing myself to limits I didn’t even know i had, and it’s all paying off. I am incredibly prideful and humbled to have been given the opportunities i have in a short time, but these things are not what I believe make me ‘blessed’. I am blessed for my health, my family, the running water in my taps and food in my cupboards. My career however I’ve worked incredibly hard to be where i am today. Im talking blood, sweat, tears, building a client base from nothing, £1000’s spent in products and education and hours away from my family practising until my knuckles almost bled. Nobody gave that to me. No higher power blessed me with a perfect career and natural talent. I worked for it all and it was all worth it. My nail journey saved my life. Quite literally. I haven’t had to take an antidepressant medication or anxiety medication since June 2017 - That is the biggest blessing I could have wished for. I will always have depression. I will always have anxiety, but for as long as i have my little nail journey, it will never beat me. If i can do it, anyone can! Get out of your comfort zone, straighten that Crown, and go own your shit.
