I really enjoyed this stretch of the South Downs Way last month. Heading from Washington to Pyecombe in Sussex, the views were outstanding and it was so peaceful 24.4km . I have a few more cliff shots to share with you from the Seven Sisters cliff hike on the South Downs Way. I hope you’re still enjoying those cliffs - I think they are magnificent 31.8km . According to legend, the cliffs are called the Seven Sisters as seven sisters used to live in houses built in each of the dips between the cliffs. Sounding and looking like something out of a fairytale, each of the cliffs are named. Going from Seaford towards Eastbourne they are Haven Brow, Short Brow, Rough Brow, Brass Point, Flat Hill, Baily’s Hill and Went Hill. . Blue skies, rolling countryside, sea views, sunshine with a light breeze, hardly a soul around and so so peaceful. It was a gorgeous stretch of the South Downs Way a few Saturdays back, hiking from Washington to Pyecombe in Sussex 24.4km . I’m just packing up to head down to Alfriston for the night so that I can go coastal early tomorrow morning, completing the South Downs Way by ticking off the Alfriston to Eastbourne loop. It’ll be the third weekend in a row on the South Downs Way for me (thank you @mrs_weekend_hiker ) and I am excited to explore the iconic white cliffs, lighthouses, beaches and countryside. . When it comes to well-being, balance and de-stressing from the working week, I am a strong advocate of going for a hike or walk for at least an hour - whether it be solo, with friends or family. Turning up the distance dial a little, I managed to explore a lovely section of the South Downs Way on Sunday. Hiking from Pyecombe to Alfriston, there were some beautiful patches of poppies, lavender and a few orchids too 37.6km . It is a great time to be out following the trails in the English countryside.
