Do you really think about how the accounts you’re following on social media make you feel? Do you look at that fitness models Instagram and feel better about yourself or worse? Do you look at your competitors accounts and feel anxious and like you’re just not as good as them? Do you wish your life and wardrobe looked more like these #liketoknowit girls? Social media is an absolutely AMAZING tool. I’ve met some of my best friends on here. I’ve been inspired to do big things on here. I’ve also looked at other photographers and thought I’m not good enough. I’ve looked at fitness girls and wished I had bigger boobs. I’ve looked at fashion bloggers and wished I didn’t live in yoga pants and a messy bun. I did a really big thing and went through who I was following several months back and if it wasn’t a friend or someone who inspired me or who’s posts make me smile. I’ve stopped trying to compare my everyday life to these little squares that depict perfection. Life feels lighter like this. Work everyday to be a better version of yourself, not a version of someone else who you’re only seeing the best 1% of.

How old were you when you first started riding? I was 5 when I had my first official lesson, but I’m fairly certain I walked out of the womb and straight onto a horse ‍♀️ #crazyhorsegirl

I’ve never really been comfortable with the way I look and modeling really made that feeling worse. As much as I thought it would help build my confidence and make me feel like I was actually pretty it pulled me into a mindset of “I’ll never be like her” or “I’m not pretty enough to model”. After every shoot or meetup I’d feel like I wasn’t meant for this, that I was the ugly duckling at each event. It wasn’t until the Atlanta trip that I actually felt pretty in my own skin. I would constantly wear makeup in front of my friends and that trip I forgot my bag at home. I was in my friend music video, no makeup and I actually felt really good about it. When I got back I barely put makeup on. I went to a meetup without makeup did a shoot with just mascara. I was finally feeling pretty in my skin. I’m not saying wearing makeup is bad, hiding behind it is, feeling like you aren’t enough without it is. I’m so happy to feel comfortable in my skin again. A year ago I would of never been seen out without makeup now I’m posting on Instagram without it. I know a lot of models follow me so I wanted to share. The cool thing about photography is that you start to remember individual sunsets, for example I can remember specific sunsets from last year that are similar to ones that I’ve seen lately.
