Star Ledger Circa Early 90's: Anyone who grew up in Irvington or Essex County in the 90's will remember seeing the tag Tyr-One everywhere. Before Social Media and Dirt Bikes young people in Essex County searched for fame in a different way. Graffiti was very popular in the 90's with almost everybody taking part, from drug dealers to rap nerds it seemed everybody wrote. Few took it as far as Tyr-One. His name and Afro characters could be seen in any hood. Essex County had a joint task force dedicated to capturing him and other graffiti writers. Graffiti was referred to as an epidemic. Tyr One was eventually caught when a disgruntled ex girl friend dropped a dime on him. Early morning raid on his home he was brought it. After his trial he seemed to just vanish. He is no longer active in The NJ graffiti scene at any capacity. His legend lives on though and some of his tags from the 90's can still be scene through out Essex County.
