I'm a carb girl. I loooove bread, scones, croissants, cookies, pasta, pizza....basically all of it. But turns out - gluten may not be the jam on my biscuit. My dad developed Celiac Disease later in his life, which most of you have probably heard of by now, but it's an immune disease where gluten damages your small intestine. I've developed some health issues over the past couple of years + took a test to see if I could potentially gain a sensitivity to gluten...sure enough, it's in my genes. BUM-MER. So I'm starting a journey of going gluten free to see how my body reacts and how I feel. This photo may not look like much to you, but it means the world to me for several reasons! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Growing up in the Burggraaf family meant using the "I love you" sign every time someone left the house, laughing loudly, big hugs, and hunter green Dodge Caravans (so, so many of them). Once kids started leaving for college, our tradition every time they left home was to stand on the back deck and wave at them while signing "I love you" as they pulled away. It always pulled at my heartstrings as I'd pull away, to know that I was so deeply loved by my family that they would gather and watch as I left the nest. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ This parking area used to be FILLED with hunter green caravans. My dad started with one, learned how to fix all of its hiccups, then just kept buying more for extra parts and because he knew them in-and-out. I was the girl in high school and college driving the minivan...hey, it wasn't too bad! I got to tote around all my friends and always have control of the radio! ;) ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Stosch snapped this photo the last day we stood on that back deck and waved as each family member left the house for the last time. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ It really is the simple things in life.
