Finished hoof shoes for Oberon from The Ancient Magus Bride! . I’ve been wanting to make hoof shoes for a LONG time, and this cosplay is honestly an excuse for me to finally try them out! . . . Process: 1) Found a pair of platform pumps and cut the heels off with an angle grinder (be very careful doing this, mine had 4 screws holding them on!!) Then painted he shoes the same color as the leggings so they wouldn’t show through as much. . 2) Carved hooves our of layered pine, carved grooves into them with a dremel, then stained them black so scratches and scuffs wouldn’t show as bad. . 3) Coated the hooves in epoxy resin and put them into a vacuum chamber to make the resin soak into the wood and strengthen the hooves. . 4) Sanded and smoothed the hooves, then painted them with gloss brown enamel for even more strength. . 5) Attached the hooves to the shoes with contact cement, then secured them to the platform with wood screws. . 6) Cut and glued rubber tread to the bottom of the hooves (I used a anti-slip rug mat), so they wouldn’t slip on or scuff up floors. . 7) Covered the shoes wig flesh toned leggings, and secured a strip of faux fur with Velcro to cover the tops of the hooves. . 8) The dewclaws are sculpted from foam clay and painted and sealed with acrylic, and secured to the leggings with Velcro (I use Velcro so I can easily strip the shoes down and reuse them if necessary). . . . . . . #cosplay #cosplaying #cosplayer #theancientmagusbride #magusbride #magusbridecosplay #oberoncosplay #cosplaytutorial #oberon #cosplaywip #animecosplay #cosplayprop #mangacosplay #propmaking #cosplayersofinstagram #cosplaygirl #cosplayphotography #foamcraft #cosplayers #cosplaylove #hoofshoes #fawncosplay #instacosplay #satyrcosplay
