In Scozia e in Irlanda, ma anche sporadicamente in altri luoghi delle terre britanniche, gli archeologi hanno ritrovato segni di un’antichissima scrittura chiamata Ogham che secondo un’antica leggenda fu donato alla classe druidica celtica dal Dio Ogma. Gli Ogham, il cui nome esatto sarebbe Duil Feda, sono un’antica serie di segni tracciati su bastoncini di legno di alberi sacri alla Dea e utilizzati dagli antichi popoli celtici e gaeli per fissare nello spazio e nel tempo gli effetti di un incantesimo o di una preghiera alle Divinità. Oltre a questo i celti se ne servivano per scrivere su menhir che venivano posti a confine tra i túath o sui luoghi dove erano sepolti i defunti. Le lettere dell’alfabeto oghamico sono venti, divise in quattro gruppi da cinque lettere ciascuno orientate in modo differente. La scritta oghamica era ad uso esclusivamente magico e rituale e si hanno notizie di una sua sopravvivenza fino al VI-VII secolo d.c. In Irlanda, in Scozia e in Galles si sono ritrovate più di trecento iscrizioni oghamiche incise su pietra e tutte a carattere funerario a ricordare il grande potere che possiede la Grande Madre sulla vita e sulla morte. Ognuna delle lettere dell’alfabeto Ogham sono associate ad un albero sacro che serve da richiamo per un’intera serie di informazioni. My favourite oracle deck is The Celtic Tree Oracle, A System of Divination by Liz and Colin Murray combined with my Ogham Staves. . Day 27 of the #spiritshowandtell hosted by @purefield.healing. . . About a year ago, I bought a new set of Ogham staves.  This time with the bark of the tree still on them.  I wanted to feel the energy of the different staves and thought it might be helpful if the bark would still be on. I have always been fascinated by trees, but about a year and a half ago, I felt drawn to a few Yew trees, Rowan and a few other trees of which I didn't know the name at that time. That was the beginning of a quest for learning more about trees, especially regarding the old tales and the Celtic lore I had read about in my books. I already owned a few books on Ogham and I bought a few more. Then I found the Celtic Tree Oracle online and it resonated with me perfectly.  I do use the cards together with my Ogham staves. Learning more, but ending up with even more questions I couldn't find the answers to, led me to the Bardic course from #OBOD.  I started a few months ago and it feels like coming home.
