Louis King is a SF from Oregon that entered the college basketball season as a highly touted recruit. He didn’t necessarily live up to the hype, but with some development, he could become a very solid NBA player.
Louis King is an explosive athlete who stands at 6’8” with a 7’0” wingspan. When in space, he really shows off his ability to elevate for dunks, but he doesn’t do it much through traffic. His best trait in my opinion is his perimeter shooting, he scored most of his points last year in catch and shoot situations. He’s got a nice, high shot release that extends to the NBA three-point line. When catching and shooting is not available, he does a great job of hitting mid-range shots off one or two dribbles. With his size and athleticism, King has all of the tools to be a defensive stopper in the NBA, but his effort really holds him back. He often doesn’t try to get around screens and generally plays flat-footed. He doesn’t have a strong handle right now either and barely averaged over 1 assist a game. He doesn’t play very well around the rim either, and his overall decision making needs work. If a team can figure out Louis King’s defensive effort issues, he could be a very valuable 3&D player to come off the bench for a great playoff team in the future.
