My #1 piece of organizing advice for parents? STOP BUYING YOUR KIDS EVERY SINGLE TOY THEY ASK FOR. Otherwise, you’re going to have to hire me to come organize it all for you since maintaining an enormous amount of toys is difficult for anyone and everyone. My clients had a great toy closet and a plethora of storage containers, but because they also have millions of action figures, small cars, big cars, stuffed animals, dinosaurs, trucks, planes etc, any system is going to be difficult to maintain - not just for their 5 year old, but for them! So the first step was helping them let go of anything that wasn’t being used. Then we took a bunch of toys out and hid them away so that mom and dad can eventually rotate the stock. Labels were the final touch, and voila! A much more maintainable toy closet. I am asking for all of your organizing tips in my stories today! This is one of my absolute favorite space savers right here! If your kids love safari toob toys and you like to keep them in their sets, you need this washi tape box! You can take the trays out and stack them, you can fit a whole tube in each slot, and it holds 23 toobs!!! I just got 10 toobs second hand and the rest I have slowly accumulated with 40% off coupons from Michaels! My kids LOVE these toys and we use them in sensory bins, for counting, while we read, to explore deeper into a subject, and for lots and lots of free play! Choose where items are going to live, and stick to it. If you choose two shelves to be your "game" shelves - that's all the space you have. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Let children be a part of that process too -- If your children get more games or puzzles as a gift, have them choose which older ones they would like to donate. Make it a family activity, and teach them young!
