I thought I’d start out this Monday morning with a little #timelapse video of the @galen_leather A5 Leather Zip Folio. I love the well thought-out design - it is truly geared for the stationery lover! And you can make it your own too. For instance, I use the credit card slots for my smaller ephemera scrapbooking pieces, and the hidden back slots for larger ephemera. And my favorite detail is quite possibly the detachable pen slot holder. I’m looking forward to how this case evolves with me and the new ways I have yet to discover its compartment uses and abilities. I’ve been a big fan of @galen_leather for the last four years and their pieces really hold up and age beautifully. . A jumble of pens for Saturday... if you had to pick just one as your only pen for the rest of the year, which would it be? . These are 6 of my very favourite pens, so I could easily choose any, but the broad nib of the M101N Tortoise Red is sumptuous. The size and lightness of the pen makes it very practical, and I like how easy it is to uncap. Add to that it’s cool looks, gold nib and piston mechanism. The bright yellow ‘Mandarin’ Duofold is iconic but where did it come from? . In 1927 George Parker bought a yellow cloisonné vase on a trip to China and this was his inspiration for the original bright yellow parker pen. Cloisonné is an ancient technique for decorating metal objects eg with enamel - bright yellow in the case of Parker’s vase. This is a 1947 Parker VS (Vacumatic Successor). Something of a hybrid between Parker’s Vacumatic, 51, and Duofold designs, this pen was made in the first quarter of 1947 per the barrel date code (7 with three dots). The VS is a full-sized pen measuring 5 3/8" capped, just like a standard 51. The VS is a button-filler much like the older Duofolds, but with a space-age looking aluminum filler button. The clear feed is unique; Parker only used it for a year or so in the VS.
