My dearest friend asked me what made me happy, a few days ago. It’s such a simple question but i faltered and didn’t know how to answer it for a few moments. That really surprised me. . . Every time I launch Instagram, there are scores of people, telling you to strive for your goals, reach your full potential. To be honest, I’m really sick and tired of reading this line of thinking. And I’m not even sure what it means. Every reaching of goal and potential is to achieve success as the world perceives it. More money, more clients, more followers, more more more. No one, and I mean no one gives you the tools or the space to be happy, calm, to love and to be at peace with yourself. It was always important to be successful in my time growing up, but in this crowded world it has reached a hysterical pitch. People happy with what they have always been called underachievers. If you think about it, it’s pretty funny, the people that are actually happy with what they have are basically called losers. . . I have struggled with what it means for me immensely. What is success? At the age of 47, I am finally feeling good in my skin. I’m not there yet, by a long shot and it would’ve been so great to have had someone show me or guide me on a more happy path. My first step to finding some peace is accepting me for who I am. Loving myself with all my flaws is a hard thing to do but it’s the most important step towards happiness. .
