For the first time ever, a Swiss pavilion was awarded the Golden Lion at the 16th edition of the Venice Architecture Biennale exhibition. Responsible for the "Best National Contribution" is a young team of ETH architects consisting of (left to right) Li Tavor, Ani Vihervaara, Matthew van der Ploeg and Alessandro Bosshard. They were supported by Alexander Lehnerer, Professor of Architecture and Urban Design, who had already been responsible for the German Pavilion in 2014. . Feuille „Material Research meets LED Technology“ The lamp „feuille“ is a lamp with a logical construction and purposeful use of new technology and materials. It is a reflector and at the same time a diffuser. The design is inspired by a paper based lamp shade. Paper can reflect the light by its white color and at the same time it takes the light on with a spreading effect. „Feuille“ is a lamp that realizes these qualities by means of new materials and appropriate technology. The lamp „feuille“ is made in a combination with a „flachs-composite“ and a special acrylic glass. The laminated „NFK“ (natural fibre composite) gives a stiffness to the construction without being heavy. The material has a textile touch and spreads a pleasant light in the room. The design of the lamp integrates the wire as a logical piece of the overall shape.
