Day in the life: Tim Davis, President of ELIC. ||| For the last 16 years, Tim has been leading ELIC as its second president in the organization's 35 year history. What inspires Tim about working at ELIC are the people he has the privilege to work alongside. Our colleagues are the DNA of the organization and Tim considers every member – from the home office in Colorado, to the tenured teachers of China, the emerging countries of Southeast Asia, and those pioneering in MENA – like family. When Tim isn't visiting our countries of service, he enjoys spending time with his wife, children, and grandkids. His favorite way to unwind after a long trip is to sit on his back deck and watch the sun set across the Colorado Rockies. ||| #weareelic
Packing my bags and flying to Asia tomorrow morning. 5 months of travel await. Awaiting me: Teaching, sharing life, and learning; LOTS of LEARNING.
I can't decide if this is a lot of stuff or not. Feels like so much compared to my last journey; but hiking the AT is a world apart from living overseas. This feels so minimal compared to the bags I hauled to China from 2009-2012. A wise man once told me: "passport? credit card? Everything else is optional."

“In the pool, it’s war. You get in to this gladiator mindset - and I love it” - @adam_peaty .
Awesome read in the recent @redbull Bulletin magzazine
.
In @fitzgerald.matt How Bad Do You Want it, he has been talking about the importance of setting clear time goals. Time goals result in phenomenal achievements but they can be a double edged sword. The same goal that could enhance a performance when you have the mindset to see this as a target could also be quite the constraint if you were to perceive this as a limit. It’s been shown heaps of times from Roger Bannisters 4 mile to the more recent female Ironman record. This stood at 8:50:53 between 1994 and 2008 until @yvonnevanvlerken smashed the record with an 8:45:48 performance in July 2008. Since then the floodgates have opened. The new inspiring athletes are not simply more talented than the previous generation, they’re just no longer held back by the mental shackles regarding the time of 8:50:53 the human limit.
This entire concept is also now being pushed in the pursuit of the sub 2hr Marathon which Alex Hutchinson talks about in Endure and which Adam Peaty himself has set, which is #project56 a personal mission to dip under 57mins for the 100m breastroke. His coach Mel Marshall says of Adam “He’s a lion. You have to put the meat in front of him to go and hunt.” Inspiring stuff!!!
