Red hot STI action!!!!!!! Doing some testing with @surefire_llc with their awesome suppressors! STI built some Staccato P’s with threaded barrels to run the Surefire cans. We shot everything from 115’s to 147’s, ball and JHP’s. The guns ran great, the cans were awesome. I also had the opportunity to shoot the new trijicon SRO optic. It was mounted on @nicky.bobby.2011 ‘s STI Omni. The optic was really nice. The window was big and clear because it didn’t have the blueish tint that the RMR has. It’s a brand new optic so time will tell how it holds up. I know there are some reservations about it’s use as a duty optic, but if guys don’t run it or test it and see how and why it fails the technology will never move forward. I guess that’s kinda the idea of that whole day. Testing ammo, cans, guns and glass. To provide the best and most effective equipment to the guys and gals who are using it to protect themselves and good people in the public. Mindset. Training. Equipment. It all goes hand in hand to be the most effective and efficient you can be. I threw in that last picture of me shoot the suppressed STI because sometimes people ask my why I carry a full MT kit with me. Some people think it’s silly. Some people talk shit about it. About 10 hours after this picture was taken, I was on my knees, in the dark, covered in another mans blood using that kit to save his life. Call me silly for training. Mindset. Training. Equipment. Some great training with the guys the other day. It was a long hot day....but that’s when you test yourself and your equipment. Is your gun too slick to grip after sweating on it for hours? Are your magazines to slick to grab? Can you see your sights through the sweat in your eyes? After a few hours on the range then in the shoot house for hours, is a physical and mental test. It tests you and your gear. It prepares you for when stuff isn’t perfect. When the weather is calm and cool, and you got a good night of sleep, and your tummy is full of good food, shooting is easy. It’s easy to perform when there’s no stress or danger to you. But, when it’s super hot, or cold, or raining, or at night and when someone is shooting at you, that’s when it’s hard. That’s when you need all that training and equipment to perform. That’s when you need the mindset to step into the fight. The mindset to win the fight, no matter how bad it is, no matter what’s gone wrong. Because we know the price of losing. Train hard friends. Stay dangerous. Select your equipment wisely. Oh, on that note.... I was reading a post about Glock vs 2011. It was interesting to say the least.... At the end of the day whatever equipment and training you choose, make sure it’s up to the task that you may be called on to perform. I’ve been there when equipment fails. I’ve been there when the plan fails. I know the cost of failure. Remember the source and sample size of guys opinions. I bet you can pull a Hi Point Yeet cannon out of the box and put 50 rounds through it without failure. But would you profess to the world that it’s now the best combat pistol in the world? I’ve seen 1911’s fail. I’ve seen Colts fail. I’ve seen Smiths fail. And even.... wait for it.... are you sitting down....here it comes.... Glocks fail. I know the earth just shook.. but Glocks fail too. Mine did. But that’s why we train. That’s why we do malfunction drills. And medical drills. This stage started with an old school AR, 2 rounds to bolt lock then you had to touch the cardboard with the bayonet. I was really resisting the urge to for real bayonet the target...but it would take too much time and there ain’t no points in it so I went easy with the stab! As always I recommend competitive shooting for anyone who carries a gun for a living or defense....or instructs other people how to do those things. Competition develops safe gun handling skills, working under pressure, weapon manipulation skills and most importantly visual and mental skills that are truly the most important skills for shooting. Can’t wait to get my @stiinternational DVC-P back from some custom work, it would have made this match easier! I love this stuff!
