: Portland Stone . ... from @littlegreenepaintcompany is the colour of our newly-decorated lounge. Matched to an original Portland Stone sample, it has an elusive quality and seems to change colour according to the light, varying between warm taupe, soft green and stone. . It was tempting to take the easy way out and paint the lounge white according to our signature mid-century modern backdrop, but it's a large, big-windowed room with lots of natural light and if anything can be too bright, so some softening of glare was called for. Portland Stone is relatively local to us, and on a clear day you can see Portland Bill beyond our bay... we also wanted to reflect the green elements of the room design without being too obvious and Portland Stone fit the bill, to excuse the pun! The radiator was painted in the same colour 'intelligent matt emulsion' to help it disappear into the wall. . On the original Tomado shelf unit found on eBay: fentimans green glass bottles and Colin Melbourne Stegosaurus (found at a bargain price in a secondhand shop) along with a complementary Gondola ceramic vase by Beswick - a recent addition - sculpturally stunning but often found on eBay at an affordable price, as was this lovely example. .
