This powerful image by @afinkandink absolutely breaks my heart. The fact that women do not have basic health care rights absolutely breaks my heart .
Women in Northern Ireland still do not have access to free, safe and legal abortions. Our country is a part of the UK but has been left behind... our women forgotten about. With no *real* government at the moment, things just aren't changing, and there are a lot of people happy to keep it that way .
I was raised (by a catholic school) to believe abortion was a sin. As a class we watched a gruesome video of a live abortion, and until I was about 20 years old I could never understand why someone would have one. Young people in NI are still watching videos like this and being taught that women shouldn't have rights over their own body. This is a massive part of the problem !
The thing is, it really doesn't matter whether or not you would personally have an abortion, or whether or not you agree with them. Abortion being illegal doesn't stop abortions. People still have them, and for perfectly valid reasons that are no one else's business. But we have to travel to mainland UK or take extreme and unsafe measures, putting our health at risk. We deserve care and support in our own country. We deserve better. Follow @all4choice and speak up ❤ #nowforni #abortion
This time last year Ireland held a referendum on legalising abortion. The wall in the background was a popular mural with 'Repeal the 8th' (the constitutional amendment from the 80's) in a heart. Dublin council forced it to be painted over. It was a very striking image at the time and so I headed there for a picture.
In case it's not clear I think abortion should be legal, safe and free for all women.

MEN SHOULDN'T BE MAKING LAWS ABOUT WOMENS BODIES
I can't believe it's 2019 and we're still having to fight this shit.
How are men allowed to make a decision on something like this, when it's something that they will never have to go through themselves?
They are not thinking about the bigger picture here at all. What will happen when these girls and women have the baby that they never wanted? It'll go into the foster system that is already struggling.
What if they get pregnant through rape, do you think she'll be able to mother that child whilst suffering from mental health issues, whilst looking at the face that reminds her of that face that raped her?
What will happen when all of these kids are older, realise they were never wanted? They'll be into crime, statistically, and crime rates will go up.
What if that pregnant woman will get serious health issues from the pregnancy and/or birth? Does that life not matter?
"Oh but what if the cure for cancer is in that child they've just aborted?" But what if that is in the mother, but they can no longer afford or have the time to have the education to get them there?
No one has a right to take that right away from others.
I'm so upset and angry about this. This isn't just America. We need to stand in solidarity with these woman.
Pro choice is pro life.
Let's hope they revoke it. We are with you, women of Alabama and Missouri

There were joyous scenes in Ireland in May as a landslide majority voted to legalise abortion, marking a dramatic defeat for the Catholic church's one-time domination of the Republic. Nearly two in three Irish voters chose to repeal the eighth amendment, which made it illegal for a woman to have an abortion apart from circumstances where her life was at risk. 66.4% voted ‘yes’, defying opinion polls that suggested the election would be too close to call. Tributes were also paid to Savita Halappanavar, who became the symbol of the Yes campaign. She died aged 32 due to complications following a septic miscarriage in Galway in 2012. #ThisWas2018
