Myvacationhotspots Hotel Kura Hulanda otrobanda Curacao, and the slave museum is in the hotel, when I go back to Curaçao I have to stay here for a weekend. It's a very big hotel, amazing, Curacao's history is linked to the African slave trade, and Kura Hulanda's founder, a Dutch philanthropist and businessman, presents a compelling narrative which is illustrated richly with artifacts displayed throughout the museum grounds. Unfortunately, when it comes to present day concerns, the storyline shifts from Curacao to the U.S. and seems to avoid taking up issues that shape life on the island today. I would recommend further investigations at other museums and historical sites, such as the Museo de Tula, Hato Caves, and even the Maritime Museum where you will quickly discern how narratives diverge according to who is offering the details.  In addition to the main museum, Kura Hulanda features many restored buildings that offer a glimpse of what Willemstad looked like at the peak of its economic success, all the better to ponder its twisted roots in the African slave trade.  Although the Kura Hulanda is also, it appears, a lovely hotel and includes on its grounds a few restaurants, a spa, etc., I find the juxtaposition somewhat troubling.
