It’s #storytimetuesdays! I’m going to start sharing more of our Nala experiences for anyone interested or going through similar. Story 1, part 1: The Beginning We met Nala when she was about 5 weeks. At 6 weeks she seemed a typical puppy, bounding around! Clambering on me and eating my hair, playing with toys with enthusiasm and confidence. I knew she was the one when she ran over and put her little paws on my leg, as if she was saying ‘yes I’d like to live with you’. We took her home at 8 weeks and she seemed to take it all very well! No crying. Liked exploring the garden. Took well to a crate. we kept her in a small area of the house initially so it wasn’t too overwhelming. She slept through the night without any complaints. But I wonder if she was just quietly troubled and we didn’t know her like we do now so maybe missed some signs. Day 2 or 3 we began to realise as people came to see her that she was terrified of people. Wouldn’t go near them. Not even close. She came to like my brother and partner quite quickly as she had met him before at the breeders and she just took to them. They are still very special to her now. I remember her hiding under the table with a guest throwing chicken on the floor. She came out after over half an hour and cautiously approached. It was sad to see her so troubled. Suddenly everything we naively expected and were prepared for went out the window and things got tougher! Would she ever be happy around people? And what would she be like with dogs?
