This story, in many ways, mirrors that of #AlbertWilson, one major difference being this one has a bitter sweet ending. #NikkiYovino filed a bogus rape complaint against two #SacredHeartUniversity football players in Oct. 2016. She first told cops that the two college students forced her to have sex in a bathroom while intoxicated at an off-campus party. Fast fwd to Aug. 2018, further investigation forced her to admit to lying, claiming she made the charges up to not lose her then boyfriend. She plead guilty in a Superior Court in Bridgeport to two counts of second-degree falsely reporting an incident and one count of interfering with police. Judge William Holden sentenced her to three years but suspended two, leaving her with just a one year sentence (should've been way more imo) Now the reason I say this "ending" is bitter sweet is because although Nikki Yovino will be spending one year in prison for lying about being raped, the actual victims in this case #DhameerBradley and #MalikHilarie lives are FOREVER altered. From being expelled, losing their football scholarships, their dream of continuing to play football and now in debt some $30,000 is a tragedy! One of her victims — present for the hearing — read a statement as Yovino even shamelessly rolled her eyes ‍♂️ “I went from being a college student to sitting at home being expelled with no way to clear my name,” Malik St. Hilaire told the courtroom. “I just hope she knows what she has done to me, my life will never be the same. I did nothing wrong, but everything has been altered because of this.” A statement was also read from the second victim, Dhameer Bradley — not present — via his Lawyer, “The last almost two years have been definitely my most difficult of my life,” it read. “The roller coaster of emotions; fear, anger, sadness, embarrassment, depression, anxiety and the list goes on. She accused me of what I believe to be a horrendous, horrific crime out of her own selfish concerns" With a system that already isn't built for us, its easy for these types of accusations to succeed, and in most cases black men are losing YEARS of their lives before they're exonerated.
