54/2019: As the election fever is high due to counting in India today , early morning hustle bustle at my house too. Husband already off to work early morning before sunrise and I couldn't go back to sleep as the sun is already up early and bright today and Kalimpong is blessed with a bright sunny day after few days of rainy stormy weather. I hope everything goes off peacefully and smoothly throughout India and most importantly in West Bengal. The fear of violence and massive law and order haunts me somewhere at the back of my mind but still I have positive faith in the law enforcement authorities.
Today in a pastel Mauve Maheshwari saree with a golden zari border for Anindita's @sareesaatsamundarpaar #pastels_ki_bahaar .My saree is again from Sona my favourite @lokkatha . I have paired the saree with a contrast red blouse which came with the saree and simple nepali earrings and red bangles.

them: "it's just an informal gathering"
me: *takes out three varieties of pearls and a Chedi Butta handloom*
Today celebrates my inherent extra-ness in a gorgeous drape from @saaranga_chennai - the delicately elegant Chedi Butta (roughly translating to 'plant motif' in Tamil). One of the lesser known treasures of South Indian handloom heritage. It's lightweight, gossamer, glistening and has joyful pops of colour in plant motifs - which look endearingly alike to cross stitch embroidery up close. Smruthi, the force behind this revivalist effort, had something lovely to share about her mission with the Chedi Butta weave - "Saaranga was a startup purely based on an instinct. There was not much thought put into it at the beginning. But my agenda was certain- bring back the forgotten weaves indigenous to my state. My plan was to debut with the Chedi butta sarees - the weave was dear to me, as it was from my hometown, Veeravanallur and I wanted to make it affordable and available to everyone!"
I'm sure glad I happened to stumble upon this rare find What could make my heart beat faster than a non-mainstream, sustainable weave from a quaint town of handloom heritage?
a rare occurence in my saree wearing life - actually pinning up and showing some waist I'll honestly admit that my inspiration for the latter is @sayssharmi (especially in that Mrinmoyee series) - the gorgeously playful drapes she did in that one got me thinking, why do I never do this?
This Chedi Butta saree has become one of those wear non-stop like a uniform wardrobe additions - the versatility is a blessing. Go to link in bio for a new post that talks about this eclectic weave - it's story, roots, and a beautiful blog authored by Smruthi of @saaranga_chennai ! @prashant.nayar

tu es mon rayon de soleil
you are my ray of sunshine
dressed in the colours of France in today's #MulSummer post! Did you know, I've studied French from 6th grade up until I graduated high school? It was my best subject, my favourite apart from English & History, and I used to be a topper! Although I'm great with reading and writing - our teachers never cared for pronunciation as much. I'd only understand less than 20% of what a French person speaks - something I hope to master on my own someday! I do enjoy French movies with subtitles from time to time, for instance: The Heartbreaker. A rom-com about a guy who's paid to break up couples as a profession, he falls in love with a girl he's supposed to break up just a few days before her wedding! It's on Netflix, if you're in the mood for some serious eye candy.
If I weren't a fashion entrepreneur, I'd definitely get my DELF-DALF and be a teacher of French. Maybe, I still will!
