Working on more new stitch patterns and I am really into this one. One of my favorite things about hand stitching is how it can be a form of meditation and this pattern certainly fits into that category. Does anyone have any resources to share on stitching as meditation? I would love to look into it more!

About a year ago I started asking myself a question before buying an item: will I still want it in two years? • Now, I have another question to ask: do I like it enough to repair it when it wears out? • Instead of buying the trend of the month, I was inspired by @katrinarodabaugh to start asking, "What is MY style? What might I like to wear for the next 5 years?" And I'm slowly shifting my purchasing habits that direction. • I think of a time when people spent hours sewing clothes by hand. Those clothes were precious and therefore also mended. They were church clothes, then work clothes, then maybe a quilt, and finally rags. But since that time, disposable clothes have become more desirable than clothes that last. As evidence, Americans throw away 26 billion pounds clothes each year. That's an average of 81 pounds each. It's high time I did my part to change that. • So for now I mend the clothes that I already own. The clothes that I love, I get to hold onto longer. And if they no longer thrill me, as I mend them, I love them again.

Keiko’s latest work, Boro-inspired blanket. Patchworking vintage fabric with “Square patchwork like stitching” makes this item so unique and beautiful. ☆ (Re-) making the Boro (which valued in the museum and such) is very difficult project because it requires a process of “using it and mending it”. Patching the vintage or damaged fabric itself will not make the Boro. I appreciate those who call the items, “Boro-inspired” pieces, and we also enjoy the Boro-inspired works. These Boro-inspired fabrics have a great potential to be the Boro in future by using it and repairing it.
