One of the plants I’m always admiring from @sacredelements (I feel like mine will take 100 years to look like this! ) #repost @sacredelements

SEDUM let’s talk about this fantastic succulent.
Sedum is part of the stonecrop family and is grown both indoors and outdoors (more on that below). This is a #burrostail or #sedummorganianum one of three hanging friends keeping me company over the past five years. They are easy to care for, need plenty of light (both direct and indirect), good drainage and like to be watered once the soil is dry (about once a week for me). I feed them organic fertilizer (I love @mountainorganicsbotanicals ) and add the tonic to the water every month or so. The leaves are SUPER delicate and break easily when handled or bumped, luckily those same leaves also propagate easily too. I’ll be releasing a YouTube video next month all around my story with these beautiful plants. (Link in bio) .
.
Another wonderful use for #sedum and #stonecrop is their use in rooftop gardens. Installing a living roof or green roof has countless benefits!! I just learned even more while researching the benefits again and wanted to share a few: —GREEN/LIVING ROOFTOPS
filter pollutants and carbon dioxide out of the air. —they retain rainwater reducing storm water runoff (which pollutes our waterways) and slowly release the water back into the air through condensation and transpiration while retaining pollutants in their soil.
A natural filtration system for our urban landscapes. — they provide wildlife refuge and habitat for pollinators like bees, butterflies and migratory birds. —they aid in thermal reduction and help conserve energy too! Green roofs trap the warmth during cooler months providing a natural insulation and keep the temperature cooler during the increasingly warmer days we are all experiencing. —Installing green rooftops in our cities combats the ‘heat island effect’ essentially reducing the overall heat of our urban environments. .
I highly encourage you to research all the incredible benefits to living rooftops!! It’s fascinating how our Natural World can counteract so many of the negative effects we’ve created. THANK YOU SEDUM!!

سدوم مورگانیانوم
Sedum morganianum:
