L O N G P O S T A L E R T I thought I would get on here & share a little bit of my story & who I am. I have severe dyslexia which makes reading very challenging. I was put into piano lessons when I was 5 years old but ended up quitting right away because I could not read the notes. When I was 13 I became determined to teach myself guitar & piano by ear (to this day I still cannot read a note). I immediately fell in love with the piano after learning a few chords. Singing & playing the piano became my outlet. I have always written choruses and verses of songs in my head or on any blank piece of paper I could find since I was a little girl, so once I could finally play an instrument it wasn’t long until I started to write words with melodies that went along with them. This became my safe place & my weapon to get through anything. Through heart breaks, through anxiety, through my questions & anger, it has been my way of expressing myself & sharing what has moved and inspired me. It has also has been my way of simply expressing my love to God & declaring the goodness of who He is no matter what I may be walking through. Music to me is more than just words on a page & beautiful melodies. It is my heartbeat & how I process. There is so much you can say in a song that you couldn’t necessarily get away with or just share by stating. Music is powerful & music is a part of who I am. . . . . . . . . . . .
