I try to always do a big batch of eco-printing, to be more efficient with my use of water and energy. But sometimes I just need to do a small test. So I create a very small bundle, either rolled up or folded and pressed between wood or tiles. And then I can cook it in a small pot. This bundle has a rock tied on top to weigh it down as otherwise the wood floats on the surface. This particular method of bundling is also a good way to get some shibori style patterning- add some dyestuff to the water and only the exposed edges will get dyed, creating dark patches or lines to contrast with the plain background and the leaf prints.
