I recently saw this quote from Joanna Gaines at @altsummit and had to share:
“Authenticity is really vulnerable. It’s a lot easier to copy people because you know it worked so you’re not putting your neck out on the line because it you know worked for them. But when you get to the core of who you really are, it should be very different than what you’re seeing out there. In that vulnerability, people sense authenticity and with authenticity people are inspired to do that themselves.”
I started this colorful theme on my account during a really dark time in my life. I didn’t plan it, it just organically came to be what it is today. My goal with my account is to bring acknowledgement to two things.
1- Color is always out there, it’s just up to you to find it. Sometimes life is really hard, and I’ve had days & months where things seemed very dark. Bright colors have helped brighten my mood & my life so I hope by sharing colorful fun images that I can bring some happiness to you on this space. ❤️
2- These walls & places I share are so much more than just a good photo opportunity, they symbolize my home. We have lived in Downtown Salt Lake for almost 7 years now and it will forever be one of the best decisions we’ve ever made. Many of these murals are located in my neighborhood, on the side of favorite restaurants or local shops. Many were created by local artists who inspire me with their amazing talents. These places I share hold a special place in my heart because they all just add to the million reasons why I love Salt Lake. ❤️
As you know I removed mural locations from my highlights on IG stories a few months ago. And one big reason behind that is I’m protective of a lot of these places because they mean a lot to me, as silly as that is. I’m slowly getting over that... because I really want to inspire people to visit these murals, to share them online, and to help others learn about the artists behind them.
I’d love your feedback on my account & have created a quick 30 second survey in my Instagram bio that I’d love for you to fill out! Sorry for the long post, I really appreciate all of you for following along!
