SLEEP The ultimate goal we want our babies to learn to do and as soon as possible, right? Did any of you have your baby and wish they came with a manual? When Charlie was 3 months old I had a minor breakdown. I felt like I needed someone to hold my hand and tell me exactly what to do with him. A little life coach, if you will.
I’ve been working with sleep consultant @bumble.baby since McKenna was 2 weeks old after she told me she could get my kids napping on the same schedule. And she wasn’t kidding. She has basically been that coach for me and McKenna has been sleeping better than Charlie ever did at such a young age. It’s been such a game changer! Any time I have a question or something is or isn’t going well, she is right there helping & cheering me on. I am so grateful! Stay tuned because we are teaming up to do something very soon for YOU! Counting sheep until the cows come home
•
Huckleberry had kindly been gifted a @ewanthedreamsheep to trial. Huck has never had any issues sleeping through, although we do tend to sooth him to sleep, now we have Ewan we don’t need to do that Ewan has my baby sound asleep. •
There is only 1 slight problem, and that is I wish we discovered Ewan sooner ❤️
Naps at 3-4 Months: “Help! My 3 month old baby was taking amazing naps, but now she refuses to sleep over 30 minutes! What happened” This is so, so common between 3-4 months, Mama. You’re doing a great job (has anyone told you that lately?) and this is extremely typical at this age due to developmental “explosions” in baby’s brain about the world around them. Distraction is at an all-time high which makes feedings so difficult, fussing before naps likely will increase, and short “cat naps” can really send anyone over the edge!
For Naps help, download the “Nap Training” sleep survival guide (good for birth-4 years!), ESPECIALLY if baby is over 5+ months and STILL taking short naps! Not sure what sleep guide to download to help your particular situation? Tell me about it in the comments below and let’s get you hooked up. I said this to a client of mine today and wanted to share with you guys.
She doesn’t want to sleep train their 2 year old because of the common and understandable fear of crying. We can all say thank you to Dr. Sears, for spreading terrifying misinformation to vulnerable new parents! .
Anyways, so she tells me she and her husband take turns sleeping on a mattress on the floor next to their daughter’s toddler bed.
I asked her, “Are you happy with this arrangement and are you getting enough sleep?” She said she doesn’t mind it because she has never slept very well so it isn’t all that different. .
I asked her, “Do you think your daughter is getting the restorative sleep she needs?” She said she is usually either cranky or very high energy, but she believes her sleep needs are met.
.
I asked her, “Is your husband happy with the sleep arrangements and is he getting enough sleep?” She said he isn’t happy with it. He isn’t getting enough sleep. But “we became parents and this is the sacrifice we have to make for our kids.” I am sharing this because I want to help you decide if sleep training is right for your family for those of you who are struggling with all the sleep advice you keep getting:
.
If both parents are happy, both parents are getting enough sleep and the kids are also getting enough restorative sleep, then ignore all the people trying to give you advice. Keep co-sleeping or sleeping on the floor of your kids room because it is working for you. .
But if you believe you must sacrifice the happiness and health of your marriage in order to meet your child’s emotional needs, I can show you how to nurture both your child and your marriage. You don’t have to pick one or the other. .
Do what’s best for your family, but remember that “your family” starts with you and your partner being a strong team. If that isn’t being nurtured, the family unit that includes your child, won’t be as strong and healthy as it could be. .

Hi, I’m Lauren, founder of Sleep & the City! I wanted to answer one of the biggest questions I get about my company: “Why hire SATC over everyone else out there?” First of all, I love this question. It means you’re doing your research and not immediately going with a sleep coach that offers the lowest prices or promises the fastest results. While we strive to keep prices low for you ladies, we are 100 on our guarantees with our programs and our expectations with children (babies are NOT robots!) and therefore love to have conversations about your reservations prior to booking. You will ONLY WORK WITH ME; my sleep work is never “subbed out” to someone with less knowledge or an intern/assistant.
My full time clients are borderline family, and I take on a very limited amount of you for my full attention to your child’s emotional well-being needs. I’m certified three times by multiple organizations, I have a Bachelors Degree in Business (minor in Pre Law ), and have been educating and helping families like you around the globe for close to FIVE years, and nevvvvvvvver suggest medication (melatonin) or cry-it-out as a solution to your sleep troubles.
DO. YOUR. HOMEWORK. And DM or email me when you’re ready to do this Hello@sleepandthecity.com
