As I mentioned in my previous post, there are more details about “OGs” than what’s in plain sight. Stitch length and Seam Allowance. Retro’s have both shorter stitches and spacing between the seams and the edges of the leather. Minor details but these are characteristics of 1985 AJ1s. If you have an pair from 85 and a retro, hold them side by side and see the difference . Are these important to you or just the shape, height and swoosh size Not trying to come off as a “know it all” but if the release later this year is going to be called OG, I’m looking for more than just the obvious aesthetics. Soling and Nike Air tongue tag swap completed. Last but not least is the hand sewing for the side wall and tongue to vamp. Tongues aren’t sewn on this late in the shoemaking process but this particular hand method gives me the flexibility to do so. In the “last” steps of this throwback restoration for @raiderfootball007 - A project that fuses skills in shoemaking and repair because the entire shoe was deconstructed to replace the old dusty, petrified foam with new padding and complete new lining. In addition, the old fabric collar and vinyl swooshes were replaced with genuine leather. I owe @hoopfr3sh a major thanks for his assistance in this. He pioneered this type of extensive restoration and helped me source some materials needed to keep it OG! Final pics coming hopefully next week after lasting and soling.
