Tamil letters pronunciations: Consonants (மெய் எழுத்துகள்) - Vallinam (வல்லினம்): Vallinam letters are letters which appear to have a strong sound. You could feel a subtle vibration in your throat and/or chest when you attempt to pronounce these letters due to the strong nature. The vallinam letters are sure a different set of letters when compared to other two set of letters namely, mellinam(மெல்லினம்) and idaiyinam(இடையினம்). The reason is that vallinam letters are the only letters in Tamil consonants which have positional consonants(pronunciation of consonants vary on position). Example, க would sound like 'k' sound at a position, while it would sound like 'g' at another position. Here I've attached posts on how the letter will be pronunced according to its position in the word. Note: I missed to point out a rule in vowels post, so I'll say it here too. The 'u' sound in the end of the word would always sound like a half 'u' sound(somewhat nearly in between Russian ы and у). After posting how to write the consonant letters I might take a break and continue after a month on how to write vowel-consonant combination and then into real time Tamil learning session.
