These awesome animations show just how fast (and slow) the speed limit of the universe can be.
#SpeedOfLight
Light-speed is the fastest that any material object can travel through space. The speed of light in a vacuum is 186,282 miles per second (299,792 kilometers per second). Undoubtedly, this is incredibly fast, but, it is frustratingly slow while communicating with or reaching other planets (beyond our solar system). To depict the speed limit of the cosmos in a way anyone could understand, James O’Donoghue, a planetary scientist at @nasagoddard Space Flight Center, took it upon himself to animate it.
His efforts look at 3 different light-speed scenarios to express how fast (and painfully slow) photons can be. -His first animation shows how fast light moves to Earth. Earth is 24,901 miles around at its center. If our world had no atmosphere (air refracts and slows down light a little bit), a photon skimming along its surface could lap the equator nearly 7.5 times every second. In this animation, the speed of light appears to be quite fast-, however, the film likewise demonstrates how finite it is. -In his 2nd animation, he covers the distance from Earth to the Moon.
The average distance between the Earth and the Moon is 238,855 miles (384,400 kilometers). It means, all moonlight that appears is 1.255 seconds old and Earth-moon round-trip at light-speed takes about 2.51 seconds.
This timing, he suggests, is growing every day as the moon is drifting farther from Earth at a rate of about 1.5 inches (3.8 centimeters) every year.
O’Donoghue‘s third speed-of-light animation outlines the challenge that numerous astronomers used to manage on daily basis.
As that 60-second clip appears, light takes 3 minutes 2 seconds to go among Earth and Mars at the nearest approach. That is 6 minutes and 4 seconds for a light-speed round-trip.
Btw, the observable Universe is 92 billion light years in diameter. Have a good day.

Post by @robertedwardgrant NEW DISCOVERY: DaVinci’s MESSAGE OF THE COMPLETE MIND—DIVINE BALANCE, Art and Science; Feminine and Masculine.....
Alan Green and I have been working on the Vitruvian Man since last week when I realized that the angle at the peak of the square was at 51.84 degrees on the circle. This matches the enigmatic slope angle of the Great Pyramid confirmed by Flinders Petrie in 1880, and happens to be 1/3600th of 432^2 which is closest whole number squaring to the Speed of Light in miles per second. Alan persisted all night and confirmed the astounding encoding within this, DaVinci’s most famous of sketches. We had been confounded for a few days as when we measured the square as its measurement appeared ‘ever so slightly off’: its perimeter did not perfectly match the circumference of the circle. This seemed inconceivable given the other subtle encryptions left by DaVinci in his numerous other works. It appeared that the mistake was in fact deliberate and pointing us to a deeper message. We pulled on the string a little more.....the message is indeed one of Divine Balance and Ascension, a veritable “Part II” to his Last Supper masterpiece. The ascending pyramid represents the masculine and the descending the feminine. Likewise the proportions match those of the Earth versus the Moon.....whereupon the Moon rests upon the Crown of the Complete Mind (perfectly balanced feminine and masculine aspects: Art is Science and the Science of Art.....in the Unity is found the Divine. Beautiful indeed. Thank You Alan for staying up all night to decode this due to my persistence.....but I knew it was there somehow all along. Be sure to follow my friend and indefatigable cryptologist Alan Green (The Bard Code).
