EDIT: These are generalizations based on my own experience. Stop telling me that they’re generalizations because I already know that they are. Obviously this is going to apply to everyone in different ways. There is no way I could insert every single feeling people experience through music into one post. Nonetheless the rules are the same (that different music affects people in different ways). We have evolved to respond mentally and emotionally to different sounds.⠀ ⠀ For instance, sounds like running water, and leaves sound pleasant to us because they indicate things that would be beneficial to our survival such as water, plant foods to gather, and shelter.⠀ ⠀ This is also why sounds such as a lion roaring and lightning startle us. We have evolved to view these sounds as unpleasant.⠀ ⠀ Music is a bit different than ordinary sounds. This is because music is a way we EXPRESS ourselves through sound. Music is essentially a manifestation of subconscious thoughts and feelings through sound.⠀ ⠀ Because of this, people with similar subconscious thoughts and feelings often connect over similar music tastes.⠀ ⠀ This is also why some of us dislike certain music genres. The music isn't the same "vibe" as us, or in other words, it doesn't connect to our subconscious thoughts and feelings.⠀ ⠀ Music can be a great tool for our personal growth as well. If you want to feel happier, folk is a great way to set you on that "wavelength." Hip hop is a great way to get yourself to feel powerful.⠀ ⠀ What kind of music do you listen to the most?
