Storm clouds dominate the sky about 90% of the time around Lake Maracaibo. I usually don‘t share too many daytime photos from Catatumbo here, but the abstract and stunning skies these massive plumes of water vapor can create are quite something to see. Sometimes it looks like a distant volcano just exploded, sometime lines and curves fill the whole sky fueled by the crazy wind shear that always persists. Sometimes towers explode literally into the vertical, looking somewhat like a remnant of a rocket launch must probably look. Insane amounts of energy and instability make these H2O bombs happen and above lake Maracaibo both are ever-persisting throughout most of the year.
