“Secret life of Plants” is a book issued in 1973. It became a real phenomenon by that time and shortly shot up the bestseller charts. On the book it was explained that plants could hear our prayers, were lie detectors, were telephatic, able to predict natural disasters and receive signals from distant galaxies. And of course they also dug music. When you purchased a plant on Mother Earth shop (located in Melrose Avenue in LA) you took with you this Plantasia, an album recorded specially for them. Its funny as the main instrument used to craft the was the quite young at that time Moog synthesizer. Mort Garson, they guy behind this tunes, encountered Robert Moog at the Audio Engineering Society’s West Coast convention in 1967, and since he knew the Moog, he knew he wanted to do music with that device since then on. One of the songs was included several years later in The Legend of Zelda video game for NES (1986) as an 8-bit tune. The album was not really successful at its time, but his daughter Darmet says “My dad would be totally pleased to know that people are really interested in this music that had no popularity at the time, he would be fascinated by the fact that people are finally understanding and appreciating this part go his musical career that he got no admiration for back then” Its awesome we can enjoy finally this reissue with awesome sound.
