Beach life, best life . Tamil Nadu has surprised me in ways I could’ve never imagined. The land of temples, yes indeed, but it doesn’t end there. I think TN is going to be a road trip favourite for me, and I’ll come back here with a mad bunch to do just that. . The sticky, sweltering heat near vanishes when the bus starts moving, a cool breeze replacing it instead. Coconut trees sway in rows against fields of paddy, oh, all that green!! The roads are long and empty, the ride is smooth. . I get to my destination, and a fiery, gorgeous sunset greets me. The sky is streaked with shades of orange and pink and red, and I take a moment to just be grateful for this life I’m living. As dusk turns to night, diamonds peek out at me from up in the sky, and I climb into my tent. I’m lulled to sleep by the sound of crickets chirping somewhere in the trees, a breeze rustling against my tent, and a gentle wheeeeeee of the wind outside. . I wake up, and make a beeline for the beach. Because, of course! The sun is just rising, and those soft, golden rays cause jewels to jump on the gentle ripples of the water. And oh, that water! What even are those blues? I see shells on the seabed, and resist the urge to pick up as many as I can as I wade right in. . The second I put my snorkel on and immerse myself in the water, it’s a whole different world. The sights and sounds of the bay capture you, and it’s a moment in time when you’re just present. With yourself. With nature. The sun throws patterns on your body. A purple starfish blinks up at you. There’s an octopus somewhere, and you know you want to find it. The clear, clear water hides nothing, and it’s beautiful. . Who even thought I’d find something like this in my own country. Tamil Nadu is surprising me every single day, and I’m so GLAD I’m here! . I’m having an absolute blast exploring the Gulf of Mannar, and where I’m headed next is going to give me more of this! Cannot waiiiiitttt!!! . After enjoying the beautiful tea estate views, we happened to taste different varieties of tea at one of the tea selling centres (forcefully taken by our autowala ). How are you doing? . When I travel the way I am right now, it’s fast, with a lot of exploring packed into the days, and work packed into the nights. It leaves me with very little time for myself (not complaining, I love it!), or think, or just do a general unconscious check-up of where I’m at. So I thought I’d do a conscious one today. Just a quick once-over, you know, to know that I’m doing okay, functioning, nothing’s spiralling, everything is where it’s supposed to be. . I feel good. I feel balanced. Yes, there’s some amount of stress and work-related struggle and all, but I’m not sinking under it; I feel like I’m thriving. Today, right now, at this very moment, whatever goes wrong (if it does, even), I know I’ll feel the same. Balanced. Positive. Happy. Like nothing’s insurmountable. Like there’s always a ray of hope. Feels nice . I think I can say that Tamil Nadu wrapped up quite nicely. I had a bit of everything in the state - cities, villages, beaches, mountains, food, art, culture.. A little bit of everything, and it made me very happy indeed. Kodai, the last stop, was beautiful in more ways than one, and I can safely say, my journey in TN ended on a high (see what I did there? ) I’m pretty happy I came to TN, and I know there are pockets of it to which I will return, hopefully sooner than later! . Parts of me do feel like they could use a good massage right now, though Serendipitously enough, I’m in a place where I can get one of the best . Yep. I’m doing fine. And you? . #peppytravelgirl
