Today I had the pleasure of treating a Mama while her little babe slept in the stroller. She started coming for massage 6 weeks postpartum for her c-section, in conjunction with physiotherapy. All 3 of us have been very happy with the results from the combined treatment.⁣⠀ ⁣⠀ As often happens with Mamas, today her body needed something different because of things that come up when caring for a newborn and a toddler. So we shifted focus.⁣⠀ ⁣⠀ As we neared the end of the treatment and her tension had relaxed, her little girl started to fuss so I moved the stroller so she was in reach of her little girl. Providing #dpt for an autistic patient that was agitated. I call Gael The Little Firefighter- when someone is agitated or screaming Gael wants to run towards them to help, not away from them upset or in fear. With the patient's permission Gael will lay her body on theirs like a warm, furry blanket. It is quite effective in relieving anxiety. This patient was able to calm down with no further screaming or agitation for the rest of the day. I recently found out that Gael had a few months of training with autistic patients prior to coming to us. Now I understand her response! You've still got it, girl!
