Food Prep Storage & Decanting —— A while ago I moved our cooking prep and spice storage to the corner cupboard so it could fit a turntable and I am loving the set up! Oils are on a raised stand and S&P and sugar are in their own bin to contain messes. I used to store my spices by alphabetical order but opted to sort them by colour now and I kinda love it —— Some tips about decanting: • write expiry under the lids or on bottom of containers • I love decanting in clear containers so I can easily see when we are running low • I choose glass over plastic whenever I can; there are many affordable glass spice containers on the market • bulk shopping is great for filling containers • I have a basket that holds overstock and refill as needed • ease of use is the key to decanting: remove the visual clutter of packaging, make items easily accessible and quick to find what you need • decanting helps curb overbuying and helps with keeping stock of what you own • before buying containers always measure your space and go through whatever you will be storing (declutter). Get a clear idea of how many items you will be decanting before buying storage items —— How do you organize your spices and oils?

My sister came outside to find her 2 year old daughter scrubbing the porch. Kids learn best by watching what you do, not by listening to what you say. They are capable of so much if given the freedom to try, to make mistakes, and to try some more. I can’t guarantee if you leave cleaning stuff out like my sister did that this will always happen... but you never know! #montessorimom
