Una delle cose più emozionanti durante il nostro viaggio a #Belfast è sta salire a bordo della SS Nomadic, la nave che fece da tender per alcuni passeggeri di 1 e 2 classe che si imbarcarono nel Titanic nell'aprile 1912.
La SS Nomadic fu costruita nel 1911 dal cantiere nord-Irlandese Harland & Wolff, lo stesso che realizzò il transatlantico 401 ovvero, il Titanic.

Pomeriggio dedicato alla vista del Titanic Museum, museo che ha ricevuto il titolo di Principale Attrazione Turistica del Mondo da World Travel Awards.
Cosa abbiamo imparato?
Nei primi del ‘900 la città di Belfast era una grande potenza mondiale nel campo dell’industria navale e proprio nei suoi cantieri venne progettato il famigerato transatlantico Titanic, all’epoca il più grande e lussuoso del mondo.
Per celebrare il suo centenario e raccontarne la tragica storia, propruo a Belfast, nello stesso luogo in cui fu progettato e realizzato, è stato costruito un avveniristico edificio a forma di 4 enormi prue, il Titanic Belfast.
All’interno delle 9 gallerie è possibile rivivere la storia del transatlantico, dallo scenario della Belfast industriale alle immagini che ricostruiscono l’affondamento e il luogo in cui giace ora, dai racconti dei sopravvissuti ad un tour in 3D.

Neste mesmo dia de hoje, em 18 de Abril de 1912, o navio Carpathia chegava em Nova York, destino do Titanic. Com 700 das 2,2 mil pessoas que conseguiram lugar nos botes. 1,5 mil pereceram junto ao mais luxuoso transatlântico da história.

It wasn't until one of the curators straight forward said to me that this is the boat passengers boarded the Titanic from, that importance of this place truly hit me.

On the board of SS Nomadic, the last remaining of White Star Line's ships.
After she was taken out of service at Cherbourg, she was transferred to Paris, where it served as Parisian cafe. But due to many bridges crossing Seine, her top decks were removed.
After being bought at auction and brought back home to Belfast, it was restored to her original look and positioned at the dry dock, where she now stands as a museum and great piece of history.
