This was the first time since a long time that I had seen a Black Rhino. We went on an afternoon drive and actually came across some White Rhino tracks which headed towards the bush and we decided that we won't find it. As we continued we almost drove past this Black Rhino which was standing out in the field staring straight at us. It took us a moment to realise that it wasn't the White Rhino we had been tracking and were all pleasantly surprised. Black Rhino are smaller than White Rhino, have a pointed mouth and tend to be more agressive. This fella seemed to have felt disturbed by our presence and immediately continued in the opposite direction. Look closely to read the sign next to the path. This is the lengthy walk to the Namibian Immigration office in Kasane. I was on my way to board the Chobe Princess which is a houseboat that runs along the Chobe River on the Namibian side. As you have to travel via Botswana to get there you meet your boat transfer at Kasane immigration on President Avenue in the city centre and this will take you via the Namibian Immigration point to board the houseboat. The region around Sossusvlei has also been called the Sea of Dunes, dune after dune as far as the eye can meet. Sossusvlei is used as a broader term for the region although Sossusvlei itself is actually a small clay pan surounded by dunes.
