Here’s a good side by side comparison of a small Largemouth Bass (first photo) and a Guadalupe Bass (second photo). Here’s an interesting shot- we were measuring fish we collected on the South Llano and noticed this Guadalupe Bass had eaten one of the darters in the bucket. Here’s a cool find- we saw several stages of the Dobsonfly/Hellgrammite. The first photos are the egg cases it lays on leaves above the water. The next couple of pictures show the aquatic larval form. We even caught an adult male. Since 2011, TPWD has been working to restore pure Guadalupe Bass populations to the upper Blanco River. TPWD worked to remove Smallmouth hybrids and then stocked over 316,000 genetically pure Guadalupe Bass fingerlings between 2012 and 2016. Here’s a Guadalupe Bass caught on the Blanco last week by @thomwab and @reelflyfishing .
