Some of you have inquired about the gratitude posts I share daily on my IG Stories...
In 2012-2013, I was probably at the unhappiest point in my life. I’ll spare you the heartbreaking details, but I sat at my desk studying for the Texas bar exam in January 2013 and urged myself to think of something to be grateful for.
I barely scribbled something along the lines of ‘my family and my dog, Wasabi’ and instantly felt a mood boost. I practiced gratitude every time I felt icky until one day, “yuck” was no longer my default (<— that, along with a dedicated yoga practice, good nutrition, and surrounding myself with happy, positive people).
Gratitude, as I’ve always said, is the foundation of happiness. And a daily gratitude practice can really set the tone for a purpose-filled day. So tell me, my friend, what is something you are grateful for today?

I have never been chosen as a juror because of my profession as a lawyer and my hobby in photography. “Photographers pay too much attention to detail,” an attorney once told me.
Trial attorneys are often given peremptory strikes for potential jurors, and the best way to get selected for service is if you’re quiet and don’t answer of any the questions the attorneys ask during voir dire (jury selection). Speak up! Let your opinions be known—even and especially if they go against the grain.
Have you ever served as a juror? What was your experience like?

After a hard fought battle spanning 7 years, today we got justice. Our client slipped in her own kitchen and ended up having lumbar discectomy surgery. ⚖️
Tom Feher and Sevy Fisher tried this case in 2015 and got a verdict for 550K. Our demand was 50K. Insurance company only had 500K policy and zero offer. In a shocker the judge took it away on dubious grounds. Since then, defendant died and we underwent many legal hurdles. Keith Bruno and Travis Davis retried the case, and today the jury awarded 1.56M. With costs and prejudgment interest this will be closer to 2.5M.

18 YEARS. WOW!
February 2 is always an interesting day in my life. It is a mile marker in my rolling journey. It is a day of thanks for my ability to continue to live and build this life I have. It is a day of gratitude for all the people who have helped and supported me along the way. It is a day of remembrance for the struggles and challenges that have come in my life since living life in a wheelchair. It is a day of reflection for my purpose and a time to form intentions to better serve me, my family and my community.
And TODAY is now a day that will mark a new adventure! What better day than today—18 years after I became a paraplegic from the negligence of a bad driver and the faulty products in a vehicle design—to announce the formation of my law firm, The Spinal Cord Injury Law Firm, PLLC! I cannot think of a better way to continue my life than championing for others who have sustained a spinal cord injury. I know the law, but I also KNOW what it is like to have your life completely changed in one moment—having to pick it up and rebuild it piece by piece—all from a wheelchair. And now, through this new venture, I can commit to helping those who have sustained spinal cord injuries by providing legal guidance, mentoring, education and resources.
Today, eighteen years beyond the scared 16 year old lying in a bed being told everything that had been lost in her world, I can smile knowing that the BEST is yet to come! . . . #spinalcordinjury #law #lawyer #personalinjurylawyer #injurylawyer #legalresource #lawfirm #sci #wheelchair #paraplegic #triallawyer #spinalcordinjuryrecovery #spinalcordinjuryawareness #spinalcordinjurysurvivor #advocate #believeinyourself #womanbusinessowner #womanbusiness #strongwomen #womanlawyer #civilrights #disabilityrights #takethatshittotrial
I have learned, experienced, and discovered that in order to be most
productive, one must delegate responsibilities.
I am delighted to report that my new assistant, Michelle, started this week, and in just three days, we have already accomplished BIG things. My clients will benefit from this enhanced efficiency--along with bonus surprises. I can't wait to formally introduce her to you. Stay tuned!

Beavis & Butthead. Bubble bath and bubblies. Milk and cookies. Some things just belong together…like you and me! Yes, YOU. We all need that person who’ll push us and keep us accountable. And you’re my perfect pairing. More than you could possibly realize, you help me to stop taking myself so seriously, show up daily in an authentic way, and rise to new challenges with the questions and requests you throw my way. I really thought you ought to know that. Thank you!
