First and foremost, we are a Navy SEAL-founded, patriotic, and military-inspired brand. Our CEO and members of our Forged team served alongside military service members of all races, cultures, and ethnicities. As we fought for our country, many of us wore the 1st Navy Jack flag on the sleeves of our uniforms, which the Gadsden military-authorized flag is based on. This incredibly powerful symbol was one of the first flags flown by our Continental Navy since 1776 and is still widely used by our military forces today. Secondly, @prattprattpratt has been a great friend and loyal supporter of Forged since our paths crossed back in 2011. Since then, his support has helped both @forgedclothing and the @murphchallenge raise millions of dollars for military and law enforcement families and foundations. He has never ONCE asked for a dime in return and has always used his own funds and resources to help promote these campaigns in honor of others. @prattprattpratt is by far one of the most humble and selfless Americans we have ever known. It’s 3 am. I’m in full tactical dive gear. Wetsuit, fins, knife, compass, tac board, utility belt, hood, mask, gloves. Time for the Draeger. As I hang the rebreather around my neck, I wish that it was a simple backpack oxygen tank, not a 30 lb temperamental rig that straps onto my chest. • I also wish I was about to SCUBA dive in the Bahamas with my wife. But this is Basic Underwater Demolition/SEAL training, and I am about to spend 4 hours deep underwater, learning how to locate and destroy an enemy target. • The beauty of the Draeger is the scrubber unit that turns the CO2 laden air you breathe out back into oxygen. Your rig doesn’t release any CO2 bubbles that give away your underwater presence. Your air supply lasts longer than an open circuit rig. • Elegant, yes. But the actual experience is like breathing out of a bag. You never feel like you are getting quite enough air. Your ears ache from O2 bubbles getting trapped in your middle ear. It takes hours to prep your rig. Mistakes can be deadly. • I blow out as much air as I can, insert the mouthpiece, and feel the Draeger release oxygen as it starts to inflate. 2 minutes to make sure everything is working, and we slide into the black water. • Another week in BUD/S hell. • Takeaway: You don’t have to like it. We deliberately add stress to Green Beret candidates. It is ingrained in our training. • I hear over and over that stress is unhealthy. He’s standing at the top of the down escalator, I’m standing at the bottom of the up escalator. Atlanta International is humming. There’s a press of people behind each of us. Can’t see him clearly, but I know he’s a Navy SEAL. • Even without the Gatorz sunglasses, Solomon kicks, Patagonia jackets, and Kuhl pants favored in the Teams, there’s a physical confidence, an easy but decisive way of moving. Straight back, good hair. • Passing on the escalator, I recognize him. Turns out I’m face to face with @jasonredmanww, 21 years on the Teams. Injured in Iraq. Started the clothing line Wounded Wear. Damn, I wish I could talk to this guy. • At the top of the escalator, I look down. Both of us are in civilian clothes. His career had ended just as my 7 years in the Teams started. I’d been out now for 18 months. Make a point when I travel to ditch the telltale clothes and shoes. We’d both remade ourselves as entrepreneurs. • Didn’t matter. He’s waiting. He’d clocked me for a SEAL too. • “Teams?” I nod. He smiles.
