Был повод написать ещё в марте о высшем образовании Жанти,но из моей головы ещё и не такое выпадало ⠀ Ставьте ❤, чтобы в море страничек не потерять мою. ⠀ Жанти, очень интенсивно занимался последний год в школе, чтобы хорошо сдать местный ЕГЭ (этот финальный тест у них по-другому называется, но по сути именно по его результатами и принимают в ВУЗы США). И поступил в Vassar College, один из лучших колледжей США, который в России не очень хорошо знают,но именно его окончила Мерил Стрип. ⠀ В карусели на видео я сняла тот день,когда нас пригласили на встречу директора Vassar College и выпускников разных лет, живущих в Чикаго. Мы даже не знали,что их тут так много ⠀ Но это всё мелочи,по сравнению с масштабом мероприятия ,посвящённого 20-и летию окончания колледжа однокурсниками Жанти, которой будет проходить на огромной территории колледжа в шт.Нью Йорк. Куда,даст Аллах полетим в начале Июня со всеми нашими четырьмя детьми. ⠀ И даже будем все вместе жить в студенческом общежитии ,в которым жил Жанти,когда учился. The most compelling part of Vassar College, despite its empowering history and fancy alumni, are the multiple arts organizations on campus. Vassar is home to over a hundred clubs, including The Philaletheis Society, a theatre troupe founded in 1865. There are also experimental, devised, female, black, Shakespearean, and musical theater troupes - essentially any kind of theatre for differing artistic needs. But no worries, weird-vibe skater science freak like Ruby feels very safe and welcome in this reputable college. The Circle was owned for many years by Agnes Rindge Claflin, Calder’s close friend and a professor of Art History at Vassar College (@vassarcollege) in Poughkeepsie, New York. Claflin referenced the standing mobile in her commentary for a film made on the occasion of Calder’s major 1943 retrospective at the Museum of Modern Art, New York (@themuseumofmodernart), comparing it to Calder’s motorized mobiles: “With the free natural movement, whatever was lost in formal pattern, could be made up in rhythmic variety. Light, swinging forms stirred by the air or the wind set up countless free, apparently spontaneous, patterns. Chance plays a large part in the rhythms set in motion.” The Circle is currently on view in the Frances Lehman Loeb Art Center (@fllac_vassarcollege), to which Claflin gifted the mobile in 1963. • Image: The Circle, 1934.
