this piece, “i thought the earth remembered me” will be traveling in a group exhibition from 2019 - 2022 along with many other beautiful pieces about Frida Kahlo (what a queen she was). if you’ve been with me on here for a while, you’ll notice that i’ve already made this piece before. the first piece i made sold in the first exhibit it was in, right before the gallery decided to travel the exhibit around the US because of its success. i was asked to make a second one so it could travel in the exhibit and here she is. the piece is titled after a Mary Oliver poem about finding solace and resilience and therapy in the things that are around you. and i feel as though that is what Frida did with her life and artwork. i made my first piece of Frida a little less than a year ago, and i can already see my improvement. it’s been so cool to see the progress i’ve made in such a short time! keep on making things pals, you’ll never know how much your brain and hands can improve over time. thanks for following along as i make this piece. now i get to work on my senior thesis exhibit - lots of exciting things ahead. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . #handstitching #handembroidered #textileartist #mindfulness #upcycledclothing #stitchersofinstagram #fiberarts #fiberartists #slowfashionstyle #slowfashionmovement #mindfulnesspractice #slowliving #textilelove #remnants #mending #slowstitching #handmade #walltapestry #wabisabi #zerowaste
