„...We‘re all equal before a wave...“ @lairdhamiltonsurf Last several years to learn surfing became my obsession. I tried it 2016 on Barbados and felt in love with surfboard. This year I came closer to my dream, went to #srilanka joined nice surfing community under great lead of @surfinua . I was going there absolutely sure that I am very close of being professional surfer after my 2(!) hours of training on Barbados. But Poseidon has decided different: having great trainers and observing how other students took off (stood up on surfboard - challenge for every beginner) within 1-2 days of training, I was laying lifeless like sausage after next sucessless attempt . I have learned that my fast success on Barbados was caused by „tourist“ approach of local trainer - you take off and slide within 1 day but you will never manage to develop further and take the real wave. So I started from scratch. These 4 days have been worst and greatest in my life: from feeling that life is absolutely senseless if I not take off within next attempt up to certainty that I am Lord of the Ocean (several seconds on the surfboarg ‍♀️). Wonder happened on last day of the course - I have managed to take off and slide only frontside (easiest way of sliding - with a face to wave) but I am sure, winning in #olympic games is NOTHING comparing to that. I left Sri Lanka absolutely proud and sure that world cup in surfing waiting for me. I have learned great people - with so much life energy, taking life easy, inspiring to explore the world, enjoy every moment. Now I know that surfing is not just about water/board/sliding - it is own philosophy, way of living, way of seeing the world, managing challenges. 5 monthes later I still feel myself happy recalling these awful 4 days. History of Pidurangala flows beyond the 1 & 2 century B.C. Pidurangala was used as a Monastery from those days. But this place becomes a prominent Buddhist Monastery during the King Kasyapa time ( 477 - 495 AC). Some believe that Sigiriaya also a Buddhist monastery before the King Kasyapa time. Once he decided to built his fortress in Sigiriya, he requested the monk to move to Pidurangala and had contributed lot for the development of it.
