The Wind River Range... wow wow wow wow wow! Without the slightest bit of doubt the prettiest section on the CDT so far (don’t give me that look Colorado, I’m still mad at you). . The past 6 days were a great adventure- I hiked off trail, did a little rock scrambling, walked on a glacier, and drank the clearest water imaginable directly from streams with my face. Highly recommend everyone goes to the Winds. . I think I will post a few more winds pictures later today. But for now I am taking a well earned day off in Dubois. It’s only been 2 weeks and I’m almost done with Wyoming. . In other news I’m really getting into grizzly country now. Haven’t seen any but I saw my first prints the other day. Some thoughts a sketch journal ☝️and a little edit from the Cirque of the Towers Traverse in the Wind River Range ↔️ . Running has been a recurring theme in my life, born of fervent emotion and insatiable curiosity. Even as a toddler, I used to run away. My mom recounts a tornado of wild red hair, chubby legs and flashing trainers beelining for the park. Rows of terraced houses blur to grey in my peripheral, the green of trees ahead come into focus. So by now, the feeling is familiar: heart ticking, a swampy delirium, the desperate need to escape, the relief of a new environment. Luckily, I’ve learned to curtail the urge by beating it to the punch. I go on adventures before the impulse hits. . 3am, Wind River Range . I peel back the tent fly letting cool air rush the space. My heartbeat quickens as though trying to lurch out of my chest, preemptively latching on to the impending sense of freedom. The Cirque of the Towers lay sleeping, its body silhouetted against the stars. Today, Jane and I plan to trace the skyline, summiting nine peaks before we circle back to camp. . It’s always hard to sum up a month in the mountains... 30 days is a long time, whether you’re grinding it out or cruising along. But, it’s with that time, that long haul immersion, that you truly get perspective on things. You begin to figure out what matters and what doesn’t. You start seeing the little things for what they really are... It’s an experience I feel lucky to have had a lot in my life. I’ve spent a bunch of nights out there, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. Its a reset button on living a more mindful life and, honestly, I can’t recommend it enough.

Here's a brand new image from Wyoming! I actually took this a while back, but the processing was tough...I was never able to get it where I felt comfortable sharing it. I finally found the time last week to work on it more seriously and I think it's close enough, although not perfect. . In terms of taking this shot a buddy and I were camped fairly close by and I had an awesome comp picked out. But (like so often it happens) the light went crazy in pretty much every direction except where I wanted it, so I had to run and find something new as the light was burning. I took three shots of this in about a minute before moving on. Hope you like it!
