I find after a video goes viral or a post is really popular I’m left feeling empty or wanting more. If it’s at 1k I want 10k, 100k I want 1m, one million I want 10m and on. I’m also curious if this is a product design challenge...if a click of a button meant something less mindless like, “this mattered to me” or “this was helpful/inspiring/brought me joy, helped me put food on my table etc.” I wonder if it would feel different. When I left my apartment this morning I smelled of longing. It is everywhere on my skin like the perfume you gifted. Sometimes, when no one is looking it enters my eyes briefly. Everything blurs. I miss you. I walk to work everyday to avoid sitting still behind a bus window. It always creeps me out when everything is moving, and I seem to not. Walking makes me think about how one step after the another is bound to get me to places. It keeps something alive, the hope of seeing you after I have walked for days. It's like pushing the time forward with feet. I will tell you more when we meet. . I saved laughters from all the days we were together. I open it once in a while, and let them haunt me in an empty room. People do not realise how lucky they are when the person they love is in front of them making them laugh. They let it all waste away, not knowing that there are people who wake up day after day to find those laughters again. . You are always fresh in my memories and in my chats. I spend hours trying to put words on a screen that smell like the perfume you gave me. Like the pain in my feet from all the walking. Like the stupid jealousy of seeing other couples having what I want with you. Like the laughters that melt into tears every single time. So when I got placed at this huge bank in another city which meant that I’d have to move away from my parents, I just went with it. I thought that this was it, this was how life works. I enjoyed my job, but in the back of my mind, I knew there was something missing. All the pieces that were supposed to be there, were there, but it wasn’t enough. That’s when I began writing. My notebooks in office had meeting minutes in the front and mindlessly scribbled poems at the back. I would write during coffee breaks, before going to work and after coming back... I would just write. I began posting my work online, but I never disclosed my identity because I wasn’t confident enough for people to know about me. Once in a while I’d post my picture, but those few photos were enough for me to be recognized. Random people would come up to me at parties and events and say, ‘Hey! You’re wordsofworth right?’ That feeling was just indescribable!’ Not only were people reading my work, they actually appreciated me for it! That was all the push I needed. Finally, all the pieces fit – I had my work, and I had my words at the same time. Recently I was invited as a guest speaker in an MBA college where I was seeking admission – it felt like my whole life was literally leading up to this one moment! Those scribbles in my office notebook are now quotes being read by a hundred thousand people. I’m glad I persisted, because right now, I’m exactly who I want to be. I’m more than the girl who hid behind a black screen, I’m more than the girl who wrote anonymously – I’m the girl who took a chance.”

Clearly I don't believe in horoscopes. But that's not to say it isn't true for those who believe in them. Or fortune tellers for that matter. Then again, why give power to strangers over you? God has given you the gift of free will, you're handed the pen and paper. The brush and canvas. Write your destiny and paint your perfect picture. No other person can do it better for you, than yourself.
