No picture perfect makeup here, friends. I’m declaring it #nofilterfriday and I’m going to be 100% real with all of you here. . This week was hard. I can go months without shedding a tear, even when really sad things happen. But then there’s that one day every 6 months or so where it comes pouring out of me. . I’m exhausted to my bones. From too much work, too little sleep, and too much arguing with a small human who did not want to go to school this morning. . When I peeked on IG this morning to check in with my friends I saw that there are now 10,000 of you 10,000 of you following this crazy, emotional, heartfelt journey to a safer world for all of us. I’m so grateful to have each of you here with me... to celebrate the victories, and commiserate on those days that we are riding the #strugglebus . Yes, I am struggling today, but there’s so much silver lining that I see through the gray. Each of you is a bit of that silver, shimmering through the clouds. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your friendship and support . . . #attitudeofgratitude

“I’m so busy......” Gosh, how many times I hear people say this as though it’s a badge of honour. I actually prefer being comfortable personally. Having time with the people I love. Living whilst I’m earning. Im currently flying off in the morning to perform (which lights me up), I’m casting this weekend (self tape) & auditioning on Monday (fun), I’m running my own health & beauty business (LOVE IT) alongside my acting career (my passion), I’m in the middle of managing a house reconstruction (space, yay), both my children have ADHD which requires it’s own special efforts & joys (the sunshine of my life) and my daughter is now home schooled (choice). But it’s all fabulous and I can stop, pause, adjust, and do whatever I like because I am in charge of my life. But please, tell me again how “busy” you are. Are you doing what you love? And if not then why? I absolutely love my life and my freedom. I want everyone to have this opportunity and the brand I partnered with has made this possible for me. Best decision I ever made career wise. If you’d love to know how you can create freedom to live how you want, then please reach out to me. Busy is not a compliment, it’s actually a cause for concern. It’s how stress and poor physical and mental health occurs. So instead of busy how about we replace that with Fulfilled? Inspired? Joyful? Lit up? Because that’s what my life is like. One of my best friends and her (now) husband were called “the lazy couple” when they chose to go into ophthalmology and anesthesia our third year of #medicalschool. I was told I would have no life and if I decided to have children “I would never see them,” when I chose a career in #obgyn. . It is amazing how comfortable people feel when it comes to making comments on your life choices. If by amazing ... I mean totally inappropriate. . What is even more frustrating, is that these comments stick with us. Both me and my best friend from #medschool remember exactly how those words stung at the time. We both remember working harder to prove people wrong because of them. . A career in #medicine is tough. A life as a #physician is also really tough. Truthfully, it is nearly impossible to have a life in medical school, residency, and fellowship. You may make it to a few weddings or funerals or go to the gym on an occasion, but it is a really hard time to be a “human.” . You are trying to be the best trainee you can be, both to be the best #doctor for your future patients, but also because you feel an undeniable need to impress those that are teaching you. I mean, if they did it, shouldn’t I be able to do it too? . The thing about finishing training is that you have to make a choice. You have to decide how you want to reconcile your life as a physician and as a human. Are you going to work as an attending like you did as a trainee? Or are you going to find a balance that is perfect for you? . It took me time. It took me at least 3 years in private practice for me to realize that I must find a healthy #worklifebalance or I would not have a long career in medicine. I realize I am a #physician, a patient advocate and future business owner, but I am also a #doctormom and wife who loves a good 30 minute run and glass of wine in the evening. Thank you @drreneeparo for inviting me to talk about #reconcilingmedicine. It is an incredibly important part of a healthy life on medicine.

When it rains...we BAKE!! Instead of going to the park this morning, mama took some to pop into the kitchen with Jakey and bake up some chicky cupcakes (bought for Easter but didn’t have time to make over the Easter weekend) • I’m been trying to get creative with all the activities we do with Jakey lately.
